Had the original draft of the 26th Amendment been approved, the Constitution and Parliament would have been destroyed, Maulana Fazlur Rehman

Peshawar: Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that if the original draft of the 26th Amendment was approved, the Constitution and Parliament would have been destroyed.

JUI(F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman while addressing the event said that the original draft of the 26th Amendment was full of ammunition for the destruction of the country. And the drafting of the 26th Amendment of 56 clauses was wrong. We eliminated 34 clauses.

He said that progress was made on Islamic provisions in the constitution through parliamentary and democratic struggle. And if the original draft of the 26th Amendment had passed, the Constitution and Parliament would have been destroyed.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that all the issues were resolved through negotiations in the 26th constitutional amendment. And the 26th amendment bill was being hidden from us and told to be passed in 9 hours. If the initial draft of the 26th Amendment had been passed, the country would have survived, not the institution.

He said that he wants to send a message to the world that Israel has no right on the land of Palestine. And want to tell the Palestinians that we were and are standing with you. Western countries are silent on the genocide of Palestinians.

JUI chief said that human rights are being massacred in Gaza. And Muslim countries do not have the courage to openly stand with the Palestinians.
