PESHAWAR: Former local government minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inayatullah Khan has said that the provincial government is not releasing funds to the opposition local government representatives.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s former Provincial Minister for Local Government Inayatullah said in a press conference that the government has been oppressing local government representatives for the past three years. The center gives funds to the provinces. The provinces then give those funds to the districts.
He said that under the law, 30 percent of the development fund is given to the local governments. In three years from 2015 to 2018, we released 56 billion rupees to local government representatives. But then in the year 2019, by changing the law, district governments were abolished illegally.

Inayatullah Khan said that no money has been released to the local governments during the last three years. And three years later, the provincial government released 3 billion 72 crore only to Tehreek-e-Insaf representatives. But funds were not released to 81 tehsil councils of the opposition.
He said that if councilors of local governments protest, then Jamaat-e-Islami will also give full support. Jamaat-e-Islami is a party to the writ filed by the councilors in the High Court.
The former provincial minister said that according to the law, all councils should release money through PFC, not just a few. 11 departments are accountable to local governments but are not getting funds.
