
All-rounder Imad Wasim retires from International Cricket

LAHORE: Pakistani all-rounder Imad Wasim announced his retirement from international cricket on Friday, in a social media post.
“After much thought and reflection, I have decided to retire from International Cricket,” wrote Wasim on X, formerly known as Twitter, in a post through that expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to play for Pakistan, his gratitude for the fans support, and his excitement for the future.
“Representing Pakistan on the world stage has been the greatest honor of my life, and every moment wearing the green jersey has been unforgettable.”

Wasim previously retired from International cricket in November of 2023, but returned for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2024.
The 35 year-old has played in 55 ODIs and 75 T20Is. In ODIs, Wasim has taken 44 wickets, and scored 986 runs. His best bowling performace in the format came in August of 2016, when he took five wickets against Ireland, while only conceding 14 runs. His best batting showing came later that month, when he scored 63 runs against England.

Wasim scored less runs in T20Is, making 554 during his career, but was more successful with the ball, taking 73 wickets. His best performance came in September of 2016, when he dismissed five of West Indies’ batsmen, while only conceding 14 runs.
Wasim stated in his post that he will continue his “journey in cricket through domestic and franchise cricket.”
