July-December 2024: 4% increase in sales of petroleum products

In the first 6 months of the current financial year, the sales of petroleum products in the country have recorded a growth of 4 percent on an annual basis.

According to industry statistics, the country recorded 8.03 million tonnes of petroleum product sales in the first 6 months of the financial year, which is 4% higher than the same period of the previous financial year, compared to 7.68 million tonnes in the same period of the previous financial year. The sale of petroleum products was recorded.

1.28 million tonnes of petroleum products were sold in December, which is 19% less than November’s 1.58 million tonnes. Compared to December 2023, the sale of petroleum products in December 2024 increased by 3 percent on annual basis. In December 2023, 1.24 million tonnes of petroleum products were sold, which increased to 1.28 million tonnes in December 2024.

According to the statistics, in the first 6 months of the financial year, the sales volume of petrol was 3.75 million tons, high speed diesel was 3.40 million tons and the sales volume of furnace oil was recorded at 0.35 million tons. Sales of 3.57 million tonnes of petrol, 3.16 million tonnes of high speed diesel and 0.56 million tonnes of furnace oil were recorded in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
