Punjab prisons decide to move on solar energy

It has been decided to transfer 43 prisons across Punjab to solar energy.

The Home Department has submitted the final plan for the approval of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz. The survey estimated the cost of transfer of solar energy to the prisons.

Spokesman Home Department Punjab said that the transfer of solar energy will make the prisons of Punjab self -sufficient in energy and reduce the burden on the treasury. It has been recommended to allocate Rs 2 billion during the current financial year for the project.

According to the spokesman, the Home Department completed a preliminary survey of all prisons with the help of the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC). The annual bill of electricity and gas in 43 prisons in Punjab has reached 4 billion.

The total cost of transferring all 43 prisons is less than one year bills, according to the NRTC, all the prisons of Punjab can be transferred to solar energy at a cost of Rs 4 billion 35 crore.

Phased implementation of the proposed solution to Green Energy will reduce electricity bills by 60 %, solar energy transfer will provide long -term financial relief with the withdrawal of all investment in 3 years, due to a record increase in electricity and gas bills in the past years.
