Lawyers refuse to relent in protest against Hyd SSP

HYDERABAD:
The boycott of the courts of law by the legal fraternity in protest against continuity of Dr Farrukh Ali Lanjar as SSP Hyderabad entered 12th day on Monday, with neither of the two sides relenting from their fervid stance.
The lawyers stopped police and litigants from entering the courts’ premises as they prepare for the March five all Sindh lawyers convention hosted by Hyderabad District Bar Association (HDBA).
The work at Sindh High Court Hyderabad Circuit Bench, however, proceeded to some extent. There is a growing perception among the legal practitioners the district and the high court bars are not completely on one page.
Meanwhile, a delegation of HDBA reportedly met SHC’s chief justice in Karachi on Monday and briefed the province’s top judge about the issues which the lawyers have been confronting due to allegedly discriminatory attitude of the SSP.
The district judge has been tasked to record statements of both the lawyers and the policemen with regard to the February three registration of an FIR against a vehicle, which was in use of a lawyer, for using dark tinted glasses and the police lights.
