Emma Raducanu set for Indian Wells 2025 return, faces potential Gauff clash

Emma Raducanu is set to make her return at Indian Wells, where she could face world number three Coco Gauff in the second round—provided she gets past Japan’s Moyuka Uchijima in her tournament opener on Wednesday.

Raducanu, Britain’s number two, is playing her first event since a distressing stalking incident at the Dubai Tennis Championships. The former US Open champion was left shaken after a man displayed “fixated behaviour” during her second-round match. Dubai Police later detained the individual and issued a restraining order.

Despite considering whether to withdraw from the event in California, Raducanu has opted to compete, setting up a potential blockbuster meeting with Gauff. The two last met at the Australian Open in 2023, where the American secured a straight-sets victory.

Men’s draw features Djokovic-Kyrgios possibility

On the men’s side, former world number one Novak Djokovic will begin his campaign against either Nick Kyrgios or a qualifier in the second round. The Serbian, a 24-time Grand Slam champion, is also projected to face Carlos Alcaraz in a highly anticipated quarter-final rematch of their Australian Open clash.

Adding further intrigue, Andy Murray has traveled to the U.S. to continue his coaching role with Djokovic. The two worked together on a trial basis at the Australian Open, and Indian Wells will provide another test for their partnership.

Indian Wells, often regarded as the “fifth Grand Slam,” features the world’s best ATP and WTA players competing over two weeks in California. With high-profile matchups on the horizon, the tournament promises plenty of excitement.
