
Two police officers killed in firing at Tanda Dam in Kohat

Two officers of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) were martyred in a firing incident on Tanda Dam Road area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province’s Kohat city on Monday.
The officers, identified as Mustafa and Zahid, were traveling to Kohat city for duty when unidentified gunmen opened fire on them, reported.
Both officers, who were on a motorcycle, died at the scene.
The assailants managed to escape, prompting a heavy police presence in the area. Security forces have cordoned off the site and launched a search operation. The bodies of the deceased officers have been shifted to DHQ Hospital, Kohat.
A tragic incident occurred in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where two police officers were shot and killed at Tanda Dam.
Initial reports confirm that unknown assailants opened fire on the officers, resulting in the deaths of two personnel identified as Zahid and Mustafa, reported.
The attack has raised concerns over security in the area.
In a statement following the incident, Federal Minister for Interior, Mohsin Naqvi, condemned the attack and expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased officers. He praised the sacrifices of Zahid and Mustafa, referring to their deaths as a testament to their dedication to duty.
Naqvi said, “The martyred officers, Ghulam Mustafa and Zahid Rehman, sacrificed their lives in service, and we salute their courage. Their contributions to the fight against terrorism will always be remembered.”
The minister also extended his sympathy to the families of the slain officers and commended the bravery of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police, acknowledging their ongoing sacrifices in the battle against terrorism.
Moreover, in another incident, three people, including a police officer, were killed and one severely injured in a firing incident during Taraweeh prayers in Narowal.
According to police, the shooting occurred as worshippers were offering Taraweeh prayers at Inam Ullah Butt’s residence. Unknown assailants opened fire indiscriminately, killing Special Branch Punjab Police officer Zafar Iqbal, transporter Imran Butt, and Shahid Butt.
SHO City Narowal, Toheed Ur Rehman, confirmed the incident, stating that the attack was linked to a long-standing feud over a private bus stand in the area.
Following the attack, a heavy police contingent led by DPO Narowal, Malik Naveed, arrived at the scene, recovered the bodies, and transferred them to the hospital. The injured individual, Shahbaz, is receiving medical treatment.
