Power struggle

It is disheartening to see Pakistan’s power struggles, reflecting issues that have persisted for years. Rising electricity tariffs are pushing the people to their financial limits. The prime minister’s recent report of Rs600 billion in power theft annually and the associated crackdown are necessary actions, but they are not enough without solid legal support.

The urgent need to enhance and enforce legal consequences for theft and chronic defaulters is critical to alleviating utilities’ financial burden.
